G - Gay

I have never yet taken a stand on the blog, have I? It sure as hell wasn’t because I didn’t have an opinion. It is mostly because I don’t understand.

I don’t understand why it is up to the law – why the law has the power to decide which two people can or cannot be together?

I don’t understand why people are so judgmental about something that they don’t even really understand?

I don’t understand why being called gay is an insult? (Closest of friends do this and it pisses me off immensely though I have learnt to keep my cool and choose my battles).

I don’t understand why it is considered to be less than manly to love another man?

I don’t understand why a lesbian is considered an easy lay? That she will most certainly be into threesomes as well? (Not even in a funny way)

I don’t understand why people can’t question their own sexuality without being either ostracized or called unstable?

I don’t understand why some men have such a big problem with other men being gay?

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t take being hit on a sign that you are attractive and not disgusting (men-hitting-on-men, women-hitting-on-women-context)?

I don’t understand how you can be so modern in your thinking and still whisper, “oh, you know what, I think he is gay” in that holier-than-thou tone?

I don’t understand why two people can’t just fall in love with each other regardless of caste, religion, nationality and sex

I don’t understand why you have to hate something that you don’t even understand?

How can you not love this?

or this?

And if you can't accept it, then it just means that you don't really understand what love is.
As simple as that.

  1. Exactly! You need to first understand love to understand the different forms of it.

  2. I don't understand many things, including love. And hence I also choose to ignore the opinion of those who claim they know better, because it is something that you don't know until you know it for self.

    1. Bingo. But thanks to Life, we all have to feel it at some point or the other. But all that is being asked is to empathize or even just tolerate :)

    2. I'd say I refuse to care. Let them be them, let me be me. End of story.

  3. I too have the same opinion. I really don't understand how it is upto law to decide whether two people can fall in love and get married or not..

  4. You know I am only just reading this now, and maybe a few years ago I would have probably had the same opinion as Blasphemous Aesthete, but after having closely interacted with the LGBT community in recent years (all of those people being exceptionally fabulous human beings!!), I realized that at the end of the day, you just know sometimes what is right and what is wrong. It has nothing to do with your gender, your sexuality, your social standing or whatever else.

At the end of the day, you are either with whats right or against it. Not understanding how a man loves a man or a woman loves a woman, has NOTHING to do with knowing that when a third party dictates who you can and cannot love, lets face it, straight or not, everyone should see as something WRONG. There is no sitting on the fence for some issues, and this is one of them. :)

And I think a lot of the answers to your questions are just simply the way we were raised. Sure as hell no one told us, hey look, men can love men and women can love women and there's nothing wrong about it. We are just taught to be averse to anything and everything that is not the usual idea of normal....

    1. When you put it that way.... Makes me want to rework my own belief system.

And those who take the fence are just taking the easy way out. While I understand that it doesn't necessarily work or is fair on their part, isn't it better than them making disparaging comments without even an iota of understanding?

Go on, you can say it.
